Welcome to Grožnjan.net!
In the old town
Just like other places north of river Mirna's valley (Završje, Oprtalj), Grožnjan, too, is settled on a terrace of the hilly area. Just like Buje, Motovun, Buzet - hilltop towns in this part of Istria, Grožnjan successfully preserved its old settings, its old town ambience.
What makes Grožnjan special is that, following WW2 that left almost all houses empty, the place was declared to be a town of arts in 1965. Following decades saw a growing number of artists moving in so that by now one could visit dozens of art galleries or enjoy the music present in the old town - thanks to the numerous concerts, music festivals and courses and workshops hosted regularly in Grožnjan.
